Caramelized Banana Hazelnut Bars
I can’t remember where or when it was, but I do remember feeling like I was in heaven when I first tasted the combination of banana and hazelnut. It wasn’t one that I probably would have thought of on my own, so I am obviously forever thankful for it being placed in front of me. Because it is DAMN GOOD.
I hadn’t attempted to make anything with the combo before, so I knew I needed to. I came up with the idea to make hazelnut blondes and have them topped with caramelized banana slices and a nut butter caramel sauce.
These are such a nice little change and have been on repeat at our house! Hope you guys enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 cups hazelnut flour
3 tbsp coconut sugar
1/4 cup hazelnut butter
2 tbsp melted coconut oil
2 tbsp almond milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 ripe banana + 1 tbsp coconut sugar mixed with 1 tbsp maple syrup
For the caramel:
2 tbsp nut butter
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp melted coconut oil
Splash of vanilla & sea salt
How to:
Preheat oven to 350F.
Combine all ingredients besides banana & sugar/syrup mixture in a food processor. Process until smooth.
Cut banana into thin slices. In a small bowl, Mix together the coconut sugar and maple syrup.
Transfer batter into in a lined baking dish. Layer the sliced banana on top, pressing them down slightly. Pour the maple syrup/sugar mixture over the bananas.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
To make the caramel sauce, combine all ingredients and mix until smooth. Then drizzle those babies!
