Peanut Butter Crack Bars
Note: I’ve included two different version of the recipe below! One is using dates and one is without!
These peanut butter crack bars were one of the first recipes I ever created and the most popular on the blog, which makes me so so happy! They are honestly the best little treat - super easy, decadent, and versatile. You can use any sort of nut/seeds and their butters, if you’re not a peanut fan.
I honestly forgot about these little beauties, until my wonderful friend Sam recreated them and got the absolute most beautiful shots! She sent over the photos and I felt honored to be able to share them here on my blog! For more of her beautiful work, be sure to check out her instagram here!

One word comes to mind when I think of these bars - HEAVEN. They are sweet and salty and super decadent, but made with better for you ingredients!
Ingredients
base
- 1/2 cup peanuts
- 1/2 cup walnuts or cashews
- 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
- 3/4 cup packed, soft pitted dates
- 2-3 tbsp water or milk, as needed
center
- 3/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup or sticky sweetener
- 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
- Pinch of sea salt & 1/2 tsp vanilla
Chocolate topping
- 1 1/4 cups chocolate
- 1 tbsp coconut oil, if needed for melting
Instructions
- Line a loaf pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a food processor, add the nuts and coconut, processing for a few minutes until they've broken down. Then add the remaining ingredients, processing until a sticky dough forms, adding 1 tbsp of water at a time until it holds together.. Taste & adjust as you need to (you can add a little coconut sugar or maple syrup if you like yours sweeter).
- Press into the bottom of your pan.
- To make the peanut butter layer, combine all ingredients together until smooth. Spread evenly over base layer.
- Place in the freezer for 15 or so, to set up a bit before pouring the melted chocolate over top.
- Melt the chocolate and oil together until smooth. Then spread over the peanut butter layer.
- Place back in the freezer until hardened. Cut into slices and enjoy!
